My name is Chris Steurer (stoy-er) and I am a WordPress developer. I have been helping small and medium sized businesses increase their online success with WordPress and marketing for over 6 years.
I earned my B.S. of Advertising from the Illinois Institute of Art - Chicago in 2012, initially working with PPC, Social Media and Inbound Marketing services with Hubspot. Out of dire necessity to do my job, I started learning little bits and pieces of code. After dabbling with code for a while, I began to take it more seriously and learned web development through online courses (and a significant amount of trial and error). For the last 6 years I have been working professionally as a WordPress developer, creating custom themes, plugins, ecommerce stores, and automated solutions for my clients.
When I am not busy typing bits onto hard drives, I love getting into the great outdoors. Backpacking, kayaking, swimming, snorkeling, fishing, boating, surfing, and hiking are all beloved hobbies of mine. Additionally, I have a great interest in sharks and marine preservation and I am currently working on one of the most thorough and user friendly databases for shark information.
If the weather is prohibiting, I also really enjoy tinkering with the latest and greatest tech. From smart home equipment and media servers to raspberry pi powered network monitors and webhook automations, I love seeing what I can accomplish with connected devices and information. Let's not pretend that I don't I love putting RBG lights on everything too. I am also no stranger to playing some good old fashioned video games on my PC or my Xbox One, with racing, FPS, and open world games being my favorite genres to get into.
Aside from my hobbies, I also really enjoy reading (books) and learning about topics of interest to me. Some of these topics include finance, personal development, habits, memory, productivity, minimalism, travel, & investing. If you have any book, course, or video recommendations for these topics, I'd love to hear what you have to say!
